Main types of electrical installation work
When a new building is put into service or a site is renovated, electrical installation work is carried out. It is a set of processes that must be done by qualified specialists, and the final result depends on how well it is all done.
Electrical installation
Electrical installation is important work that covers chasing walls, laying cables, installing junction boxes and fitting switchboards. Fire safety standards must be followed throughout, so that no situations dangerous to people's lives arise.
Power supply design
This is the main document on which electrical installation is based. It shows the cable routes and the layout of electrical equipment. The specialists also make the necessary calculations and determine the load on the network. The design takes the features of the site into account. For an apartment, the appliances that will be used are considered; for an industrial site, an emergency power supply is provided for.
Wiring installation
This is labour-intensive work on which the fire safety of the site depends. It includes chasing walls for the wiring, drilling holes for sockets and switches and drilling through-holes. When this is done, the wires are laid in the chases and the junction boxes and fittings are installed. Wiring can be concealed or surface-mounted, depending on the site and the client's wishes.
RCD installation
This means installing residual current devices. Done correctly, it protects against fire and short circuits. RCDs are installed in several stages. First the right devices are chosen and the load is assessed. Then qualified electricians install them and check that the switching devices work.
Cable laying
Safe operation of electrical networks always comes first, so cable is laid in line with the applicable standards. For concealed wiring the walls are always chased, so the cables are hidden from view. For surface wiring the wires are fixed to the surface with brackets or placed in plastic trunking.
Switchboard assembly
Where is the equipment that switches off the power? In a metal or plastic box with a door. During electrical installation, protective and switching devices are placed in this box. The switchboard is assembled to standard or custom diagrams. First the mounting is installed, then all the devices are connected, and finally their operation is checked.
Socket installation
This process has several stages. First, places for the sockets are prepared in the brick or concrete wall. Then the wires are run to them, and the sockets are fitted. It does not take long.
Luminaire installation
This is the final stage, and it also gets close attention. Luminaires are installed in line with all requirements. If needed, the fixture is assembled first. Luminaires are mounted in different ways: a wall light is fixed to the wall, a ceiling chandelier needs wall plugs and a bracket, and for downlights holes are cut in the plasterboard.
