Continuous light lines over the whole floor
The second floor of Velmart in Obolon sells household chemicals and goods for the home, children and pets. The ceiling is open, with trusses and ductwork, up to 5 metres high. The task was to light 1,440 m² of sales floor evenly so shoppers see every shelf and the ceiling does not look cluttered.

Over 1,000 lx on the shelving
We calculated the project in DIALux and built continuous lines from modules 0.9 to 3.4 m long, suspended at 2.9–3.6 m. Above the aisles we used RAY-L with RL25° optics, which put the light on the shelves rather than the floor. General light comes from RAY-D with a 100° beam and RAY-L with a 90° beam. The calculated average illuminance is 1,218 lx, with 1,027 to 1,273 lx on the shelf fronts and uniformity up to 0.84.

Emergency packs built into the lines
42 luminaires have a built-in emergency pack, so no separate emergency fittings are needed on the ceiling. During a power cut the same lines give an average of 109 lx on the floor, enough for shoppers to reach the exit calmly.

The result: a bright floor with no dark corners, 153 lm/W on average across the project and 9.9 W/m² of installed power.
Luminaires in the project
- RAY-L: 71 luminaires, about 207 m of lines, RL25° and 90° optics, 3500K, Ra 80.
- RAY-D: 111 luminaires, 344 m of lines, 100° beam, 3500K, Ra 80.
- Emergency power: built-in packs in 42 luminaires.
