01 · About

UKRBUD office in Kyiv: light for everyday work

We carried out the lighting project for the UKRBUD office in Kyiv. The project covers open work areas, private offices, a lobby with reception and lounge areas, and the light was chosen separately for each.

People spend about a third of their lives at work. Sixteen to seventeen weeks of working time fall in autumn and winter, when the need for artificial light rises considerably. Staff eyesight and productivity depend on the lighting quality, so it is not something to economise on.

02 · Work areas

UKRBUD work areas: soft shadows and light close to daylight

Office luminaires should suit the interior and not stand out from the style of the room. They should create only soft shadows, so eyes do not tire and the three-dimensional perception of objects is not disturbed.

Office light should be as close as possible to daylight in colour, colour temperature and light level in the work area. If a room has windows, luminaires are placed parallel to them so that natural and artificial light coincide. If desks stand in pairs, desk lamps are needed as well. In this project we paid attention to the colour rendering of luminaires, light distribution, brightness and colour temperature.

03 · Lobby and lounge

UKRBUD lobby and lounges: a different mood created with light

Luminaires make it possible to set a different mood in different parts of the office. The key factors are light level and colour temperature. Slightly cooler light is often used for the business part of an office, while relaxed areas get warm main light and wall lighting.
